Friday Collection of Pretty Books 8.5.11

The booklover pictures in this week’s collection couldn’t be more varied.

Living room contemporary living room

Wonderful view with books designed by Laidlaw Schultz architects via Houzz

Metal Lighted Letters

Old metal letters from the Neon Boneyard in Las Vegas.  The Boneyard sounds a little eerie and cool at the same time.  Since there are letters in books and I like the picture, I’m sneaking it in.  Image:  Tadson Bussey

Antiquarian Clasp Pretty Book

Clasps were originally attached to books created from parchment that swelled out of shape if not bound tightly.  You can see a video of how parchment is made into a book here.

Bookbinding is a very technical art.  Did you know that you can take classes  devoted to making these clasps?      Image:  Tom Woodward

Mitchell Library

The Mitchell Library of the State Library of New South Wales in Sydney.  Image: Christopher Chan

Hand Painted Books

Here’s the summary of Pretty Book posts from earlier in the week.

Enjoy the pretty books,
