Pantone announced that the 2012 Color of the Year is Tangerine Tango. Their press release stated, “The 2011 color of the year, PANTONE 18-2120 Honeysuckle, encouraged us to face everyday troubles with verve and vigor. Tangerine Tango, a spirited reddish orange, continues to provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward.”

I found several Tangerine Tango books in the book barn and the closest match was an old arithmetic school book. I wonder if the school book designer chose the color for its energy boosting abilities given the topic.
Color are a bit tricky on monitors and I compared these books to the Pantone site on several devices and they seemed to be in the same general family of color.
Even on the Pantone site, the Tangerine Tango examples vary item to item.
So I’m declaring these books to be Tangerine Tango until someone brings me an official and physical Pantone color chart for comparison:)
Giant paper clips from a vintage box of office supplies.
The Penguin color isn’t really red enough for Tangerine Tango, but they looked pretty with the other books.
Enjoy your energy boost,
JT
