I’m leaving the relative warmth of Texas and traveling to wintery Chicago.  Chicago is truly a literary city, full of beautiful libraries, bookstores, and book art.

One destination will certainly be the University of Chicago to see the famed Harper Memorial Library main reading room. Image:  Justin Kern

Perhaps I’ll see this as I wander the campus.  Image:  Quinn Dombrowski

I love the sign at Booksman’s Corner on N. Clark Street.  Image:  Matt Stratton

My hotel is near Printers Row, which was once a bastion of bookmaking (printing and publishing, of course, not betting).  Image:  Pirate Alice

Art Institute of Chicago by Desoria Book Painting

Chicago is full of world class museums including the Art Institute of Chicago which houses Jean-Baptiste-Francios Desoria’s Portrait of Constance Pipelet, 1797.  Image:  Underpuppy

I loved the rare medium well-done sign too. I wish we’d had time to go see the sign and the store in person. Maybe next trip..
